Hey there, Cool idea.
I'm not sure calibration would be thaaaaat important... It's aftertouch after all.. Say, you want to lift out a note from a chord you held down (Via filter or volume).. is it really that important that it's aftertouch sensitivity has exactly the same response as other notes.. if not, then you could sure save yourself a bit of work.. assuming you have a reliable way of placing the magnets (And sensors) in the same position?
Even velocity sensitivity is not hugely important to me (Well calibration wise).. have you ever used a Rhodes or Wurlitzer electric piano?
FYI the Korg Sigma uses a hall effect device for it's aftertouch, but it's just boring aftertouch, not poly... The SCI Prophet 8 used optical sensors for it's Poly aftertouch & velocity I believe.. not sure what the Yamaha CS-80 used.
My 2 cents anyway..

the sid itself have a multimode filter, but if you want to use an external hp filter may check out the Korg sallen-key design. it was ben used on various Korg Synths (like the MS series and Mono/Poly)
this filter can be configured as HP or LP and have normally 12dB/okt.
Hi midibox tweakers
i am wondering about the functionality of the midibox sid.A 1 x midibox sid has 1 monphonic channel and a 4 x has 4 mono or 4 polophony ? i know you could stack sounds maybe on 4 channels in realtime but can it do like 4 x poly tricks or patch the 4 sids to same midi ch and then trigger as one patch . . .? . . . . . i wondered if a very nice feature was possible where in future it has like Monopoly korg type setting where if you play 4 notes in a sequence it plays sid 1 , then 2 then 3 then 4 which is really cool for syncapated sequences .The vermona Performer also does this i heard.Very groovy sound. Can anyone explain the 4 vs 1 sid thing.Do i really need 4 if i use hardisk recorder anyway and dub stuff alot or does it offer polophony and ability to do pad sounds and layers easiliy
I know it means you can have 4 monophonic sid sounds on 4 channels ?
Also ? has anyone combined midibox sid and midbox sequencer yet ? into one mad mad sid groove sequencer ?
so many questions :)
thanks for the inspiration with this mad mad device.

Hi again Thorsten! :O)
I just thought; this super-poly thing you're talking about, is this a mode that would work just like any other oldschool analog synth from the 80's with 8 voices?... I mean, that you can play the 8SID monster polyphonically vith dynamic allocation of up to 8 voices? (meaning each SID is considdered a seperate voice)...
I sure hope this will be possible because that is probably the most useful configuration for me B-) ... I've always dreamt about a SID synth with 8 voices.
And about those 1-2 ms... no big deal really is it?... MIDI itself seem to have some latency between noteon messages. In fact such slight variations are what makes analog synths so special... small timing irregularities etc...
and IF you implement the super-poly mode, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE also include a UNISON mode for this configuration!!!!!! ... UNISON is the total joy of older KORG synths, and the more "latency" between voices fired off only add to the magic... believe me! ;O) 3OSC - 8voice unison = 24 oscillator unison!!!! WOOOOOW! :OP
BTW. I'm hooked up for the 8SID PCB now, so I'll soon be participating in testing and idears again Thorsten :O)
